Switching Gears

Hey there,
I will not be continuing to blog about Kentucky.  I decided to switch gears for a bit :) Thank You to every single person who read this blog.  I was quite surprised at how many people from other countries stopped by!  Thank You so very much!
I took this picture yesterday and decided to make a postcard of it per suggestion from my sister Amber :)
So really this postcard was custom made for her but I am sure she won't mind if I share it with you.

Job 38:36

Job 38:36

King James Version (KJV)
36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

Wildlife Gathering

All I can say is today was a very, very abundant day for wildlife!  First, the turkeys came into the yard to eat. Then a deer poked it's head up over the hill to watch.  Soon the deer climbed up into the yard and joined the turkey to feast on vegetation.  They ate side by side like that for a while and then here came the baby deer to join in!  As if they felt left out the ducks came quacking up to them all but they snubbed the ducks pretty quickly :(
I felt a little bit disappointed that I couldn't get this gathering on video but I was glued to my spot so that I wouldn't scare them all away.

Wild Turkey

Today I woke up and walked out the door to be greeted by 20 or so wild turkey!  I was unable to get to the camera quick enough to get to them all but I managed to capture a few.

Let Go

This is the part

The Biological Advantage of Being Awestruck(video)

Difficult Day

Today is a difficult day for me.  We are dropping the puppies off at the shelter this evening.  We have fostered them through their sickness and they are healthy and lively now.  They will make great dogs for someone out there.
An old friend must have felt my distress and stopped by to see me today.  This is Francais.  I nurtured him back to health earlier this year.  He was getting attacked by dogs and was quite battered.  Once he was well I let him go and he took off quickly(well quickly for a turtle).  I turned my back and decided not to watch him go but wished him the best.  So he picked today to visit me and show me he was doing just fine.
I know I have heard that some things and people are only in our life for a season.  The quicker this is accepted the better you are able to deal with the pain.  However, some are harder to let go of than others and you will feel pain and that is just one fact of life little grasshopper ;)

Mountain Dew Whirlpool

I know this isn't the most beautiful or inspiring picture but I took this in a parking lot.  I thought it was really neat :)

Blessing

A BLESSING FOR YOU

May the warm winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit

Bless all who enter there.
May your moccasins make
Happy tracks in many snows,
And may the Rainbow always touch your shoulder.

Breathe

Seriously isn't this great to hear!  In a world where we are convinced that we must constantly be striving, striving, striving doesn't it feel wonderful to hear this.  I know I personally at times feel useless if I am not "contributing."  The pressure we put on ourselves is often overwhelming.  Who tells us that we are nothing if we can't do?  Never mind who is telling us because what is more important is why do we choose to believe it?  If I can't "do" or "be" for you well then guess what it doesn't make me any less valuable.

Is it Tomatos or Tomatoes I Always Forget

Ok either way I love these little red fruits!  My tomatoes did not do so well this year I had very few actually.  I attempted to grow some in a container on the porch due to my limited  mobility.  I am grateful for what I did get though.  However, for the past few weeks my aunt and uncle have been providing me with plenty of my favorite fruit.  I went out and picked the last good batch of them yesterday along with some jalapenos.
So last night I started some spaghetti sauce made from fresh tomatoes.  So, so good!
For brunch today I was more than happy to have some fried green tomatoes.  I love summer food!

As for the jalapenos I plan on making some homemade jalapeno poppers..   I have never attempted to make them before so hopefully they turn out well.
Summer is winding down and I am definitely grateful for these delicious treats while they are in abundance.  Thank You :)

Good Song

Paulo Coelho

Yes I am a huge fan of Paulo Coelho's writings.  This man knows how to express himself in ways that I can only dream of being able to do someday.  I would like to share a snippet of his writing from one of his blogs that have inspired me this evening.  When this man writes I hear it, I feel it, I know it.  It echoes through my soul like an unbelievably loud bell reminding me to WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP.

In the face of defeat
The Warrior of Light knows how to lose. He does not hold defeat as something indifferent, using phrases like “well, it wasn’t all that important”, or “to tell the truth, I did not really want that”.
He accepts defeat as a defeat; he does not try to change it into a victory or an experience. He suffers the pain of his wounds, the indifference of his friends and the loneliness of loss. At such moments he says to himself: “I fought for something, and I failed to get it. I lost the first battle.”
This phrase will give him strength. He is aware that nobody wins all the time – but the courageous always win in the end.

Puppy Update

The abandoned puppies we found on the side of a back country road are doing a lot better thanks to the animal shelter.  Although we took the puppies into our home and cared for them it soon became apparent that they were not well.  We did not have any extra money to take them to the vet so we took them to the shelter to see if they were adoptable.  Unfortunately because of their health issues they were not adoptable however, they treated the puppies for mange, worms, infections and also gave them their first puppy shots.  We were told that we could continue to foster the puppies at our home until they are well in hopes that they will then be adoptable.
They are doing so much better and I really believe they will be taken into loving homes as soon as we bring them to the shelter.

Sporadic Posts

Yep it's true my posts are getting very sporadic.  I am taking some classes which started a week or so ago so my attention has definitely shifted focus for a bit.  I am sure that once I get a regular routine going I will go post crazy again.
I am considering starting an additional "behind the scenes" blog in which I discuss movies, music and random thoughts or causes that are important to me.

Hi there

It's Whereabout Wednesday

Yes it's true it is Whereabout Wednesday but unfortunately we have nothing to post because we haven't been able to go anywhere.  As soon as we get back to being able to travel we will.  :)  If you are able to travel today keep us in mind!

My First Time-Duck Egg

Willow Smith Nope Just Me Under a Willow Tree

Everybody who knows me knows that I am a bit picky as to what pictures of myself I allow others to see.  This picture that Bert took of me the other day is definitely approved :)

The Newcomers

Quite unexpectedly we found 3 puppies on our way home the other night.  They had been left on the side of the road to fend for themselves.  We took them home, fed them and Bert built them a pen.  We were sure not expecting these little ones but we might keep them.  They are very sweet and extremely intelligent.

The newly built pen built with recycled pallet boards.  Awesome!

You are wanted here

I know this doesn't have a lot to do with  my normal blog activity but this message is something that has been on my heart and I want to share it with whomever might need it.
**Warning Sensitive Material**   sometimes people go through really hard times that others may not know about. It is easy to feel lonely and lost even with so many...
online friends. Please pray and reach out to God. Ask God to send you someone to talk to. Please know that suicide is not the answer to your problems. Suicide is an evil spirit sent to destroy the children of God and their loved ones. When you are having trouble please just take a moment to tell yourself, "Just like a wave this too will pass and tomorrow or maybe even in a few moments I might feel differently." Please know that you are important and we need you here! We need your thoughts, your ideas, your laugh, your experiences, your smile and even your bad moods! You are worth so much more than a paycheck, more than your house, clothes, car, job, or career.  You are worth more than all of your failures and imperfections combined.  You are worth so much more than those relationships that didn't work out.  Just wait your problems out until you are thinking a bit clearer.

Mushroom photos

Down and Ducky

The ducks are learning how to mate.  They can be quite mean and the males are definitely starting to get on the female's nerves.  Sometimes the males hold the female's heads under water for a really long time!  At first it scared me but as time goes on it seems the females are learning how to take care of themselves.

Whereabout Wednesday

Hey there it's Whereabout Wednesday again. Today I am going to take you out to our favorite restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky called Tandoor. Tandoor serves fine Indian cuisine. We love this place so much that every time we go to Lexington we have to stop in. It is always such a treat!

                                     Tandoor Fine Indian Cuisine
                                     3130 Mapleleaf Dr # 112 Lexington, KY 40509
                                     (859) 263-5771

Almost inside and I can smell the warm spices already.

Yes!  Breathe all that aroma in!

They recently added some big screens that play Indian music.

It is dimly lit and very comfortable.

Let's pretend to look at the menu as if we don't already know what we want :)

We chose vegetable pakoras for an appetizer.  These pakoras are veggies and spices fried to a golden brown.  When you bite into them they are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.  They serve it with a spicy green sauce, onion chutney and a sweet red sauce which I still really don't know what the sauces are but they make it taste even better.

For our entree we love the coconut curry chicken dish.  Bites of chicken cooked in a warm and spicy coconut gravy.  The sauce has just a little sweetness with a hint of coconut and just enough heat to warmly, excite your taste buds.  You can choose whether you like it mild, medium or hot.  We usually choose medium.  Oh and how could I forget to mention that bread you see there.  It is called naan (pronounced non) and we always order it with garlic.  It is a very thin and semi crunchy bread that compliments the entree very well.

Next time you are in Lexington be sure to stop in.  Be warned though it is my personal opinion that Indian food tends to have a pleasurable, stimulating effect on one's senses.  You may find yourself  locked in a very passionate embrace with your lover before the night is over ;) Enjoy!
